Different Drug Rehab Programs

Drug addiction affects people of all ages. Young and old alike can be drug addicts. And they have their own reasons. It can be due to family problems, peer pressure or experimentation that has led to the addiction. Drug rehab is considered the cure for drug addicts. Enrolling an addict in a drug rehabilitation program is very effective, especially if done in-house. Inpatient drug rehabilitation is usually for a period of thirty days or more. This is ideal for those who are capable of endangering themselves and other people. The good thing about inpatient rehabilitation is the presence of counselors and staff that can monitor the addict.

In an outpatient program, the drug addict still has the chance to access drugs. He only goes to the drug rehab several times a week. His willpower and determination is the key to his getting cured. Outpatient drug programs are not as successful compared with inpatient treatment. The 12-step program was created by Alcoholics Anonymous. They follow 12 steps to overcome drug addiction. It relies on self-discovery, peer support and group therapy. There are also individual counselors available. However, this is not acceptable to all because it involves relying on God or a higher power. Another program is the Holistic drug rehab. It focuses on the mind, body and spirit. There will be no psychiatric medication. Instead the patient will be doing yoga, guided imagery and take nutritional and vitamin supplements.

Not all drug addicts are the same. Thus, there are different drug rehab programs.
