What are different types of protein shakes?

Protein shakes are one of the favorite drinks among the athletes. There are many different types of protein shakes that the athletes and workout people can choose from. Whey protein is the one that is most popular among the workout community. People use it pre workout as well as post workout. But whey is not the only type of protein that is being offered by supplement shops nowadays. There is casein protein, egg protein and soy protein which is also available in supplement form.

Whey protein has the highest biological value among all these proteins! Highest biological value means that it is absorbed and utilized the most in the body. Muscles feed on all of the above mentioned proteins so they are necessary. Casein protein is a slow digesting protein and the suggested use of casein protein is before bedtime. Casein protein will supply a rich blend of amino acids throughout the night so that the muscles have a supply of constant amino acids to repair themselves from the prior workout session.

Phd supplements, Sci mx, Optimum nutrition and many other companies offer these different types of protein shakes. Now they have come up with new a supplement which contains a blend of all the above mentioned proteins in different amounts. However, soy protein is not included mostly in those blends as it is a totally different protein made separately for the vegetarians, but the drawback of soy protein is that it doesn’t have a high biological value and doesn’t contain a full spectrum of amino acids as other proteins do.
