Home Weather Station Temperature and Pressure
In studying weather, meteorologists use weather records in the analysis of data. This is achievable by making the weather instruments for your home weather station, without having to purchase them from the stores.
Though they are not necessarily precise, they can be used in forecasting and measuring the various weather conditions. Due to this, most of the instruments are easy to make in a way that even children could make them. They include home made instruments used to measure the air temperature and pressure, which are the thermometers and barometers.
A home weather station thermometer is used in measuring air temperature. It is placed outside in a sheltered place, to give accurate readings. The thermometer can also be placed at the back of the weather proof box. The thermometer is made using a glass bottle, colorants, drinking straw, modeling clay, white card and glue.
The bottle is then filled with colored water and the straw is inserted and held upright with the modeling clay. The card is then glued to the straw, to enable one see the changes in the levels of water.
In this case when the air temperature goes up, the water rises in the straw and vice versa. The weather station thermometer can be can be improvised, by making markings on the card and this compares it with the actual thermometer.
