Things to Consider in Buying Adjustable Dumbbell Sets
In buying a dumbbell set, you need to consider some important things so that you can successfully use these dumbbells in getting your body in shape. One of the most convenient dumbbell sets that you can find would be adjustable dumbbells. These are quick-change sets with weight limits. The weight on each set would be important information.
-
Each dumbbell can carry 25, 50 or 100 pounds. There are different models for each set and you can carry heavier weights as per your preference. However, you should caution yourself to buy individual dumbbell sets because this will likely confuse you.
-
Additional weights can be in values such as 2.5, 5 or 10 pounds. More likely, the heavier the sets are, the larger the increments as well. Smaller increments can be added by wrist weights.
You also have to ask certain questions so that it would be easier on your part to decide which set to buy.
-
Plate rattles. Do the plates make so much noise when banged with each other?
-
Quick-change speed. Does each dumbbell have a selector control or two? Do the plates get removed with ease?
-
Safety. Do you see pins or sharp edges that pose danger to the user?
-
Length and width. Does the dumbbell have a fixed length or does it extend with additional plates? A set with a fixed length is bulkier to have.
-
Double-handed use. Can the length of the dumbbell accommodate two hands during an exercise?
-
Balance. Are the dumbbell sets balanced on all weights? Some are asymmetrically weighted while others are not.
